Nick Ockert, Best Man

Kakaaaa!

This one fun and ridiculous sound sums up our friendship and brotherhood. Nick has been my best buddy for a long time, becoming fast friends after we both moved to San Francisco following undergrad. We found a mutual love for stupid costumes at all times of the year, ridiculous shenanigans, and seeking fun. From being roommates, to supporting each other through the tough hurdles of life, Nick has been by my side through it all. Nick is one of the most sincere and supportive people I’ve ever met, and I am lucky to have him as my best friend.

Nick Sawyer, Groomsman

“Taco flavored kisses!” From our shared enjoyment of South Park and its stupid quotes like this, to crushing through pre-Med classes together, Nick and I go way back to the SR Junior College. Through it all, we were in 17 classes together! You will be hard pressed to find a guy more passionate about his work and the people he serves. From teaching, saving people in the ED, and volunteering on the front lines of COVID in Queens, NY, Nick is an awesome guy who I’m lucky to call my friend.

Woody Hoburg, Groomsman

I have spent more time in a tent with Woody than anyone else. Odd fact but true!

Woody has been my long-time climbing partner and the guy who has literally shown me the ropes through our shared passion of climbing. We met as teammates on the Bay Area Mountain Rescue search and rescue team in California. From there, climbing has taken us to crush in Yosemite, Vegas, and Thailand—some amazing adventures! Woody is a humble, dedicated, and stellar friend who has always been more like a brother than friend.

Bridesmaids:

Mareena.jpeg

Mareena Moss, Maid of Honor

Mareena and Arielle met in high school pre-calculus and it was friends at first sight. As teenagers, they got into plenty of mischief in small-town Idaho, later graduating to big city mischief, while Mareena was at Seattle University and Arielle was campaigning for the 2008 election in Seattle. Since then, although Arielle has nearly gotten them kidnapped in Kauai on a hand-crafted wooden kayak, and is directly to blame for Mareena showing up hungover to her rehearsal dinner for her own wedding in 2015, Mareena has always been a positive influence on Arielle and has been the voice of reason and unconditional love.

Rika Péré, Bridesmaid

As first cousins and only children, Rika and Arielle are probably the closest thing each other has ever had to a sister. They spent most of their holidays together, growing up in Nana and Papa’s house in Seattle, where they would put on makeshift performances with Rika dancing and Arielle playing backup on the piano. Rika grew up to love the stage (which coincidentally is Arielle’s worst nightmare), and that happiness and excitement for life is a much needed influence for exceedingly serious and logical Arielle.

Kami Doan, Bridesmaid

Kami was the first friend Arielle made in Idaho when she moved, and they have stayed as close as sisters ever since. Their after-school activities were always synchronized, whether it was taking piano lessons at the same time, competing on the ski team or swim team, singing in the á Capella group Colla Voce, or playing tennis. When they weren’t performing a stand-up-comedy performance of a piano duet, Kami was always more athletically inclined and kicked Arielle’s butt 100% of the time. Even though college took them to opposite sides of the country, Kami and Arielle always reconvene to get a quick waterski trip in in the summer, and Christmas and Thanksgiving dinner wouldn’t be complete without the Doan’s.

Elisa.jpeg

Elisa Nunez, Bridesmaid

Elisa was one of the first friends Arielle made when she moved to NYC. They immediately bonded over their inability to sit still, and love for traveling and adventuring. Elisa is the reason Arielle left the country for the first time since childhood, when they visited Cancun for Elisa’s birthday. What should have been a 4 day trip spontaneously turned into two weeks, but let’s just say Arielle would have probably not survived the trip without Elisa there to fix the flat tire, and return the Spanish computer at a store that only accepted cash.

Julie.jpeg

Julie Chung, Bridesmaid

Julie and Arielle first met at the welcome reception for the Yale PA Class of 2017. She was one of Tyler’s classmates who immediately hit it off with Arielle. She’s since amazed Arielle with her superpower of getting out of speeding tickets even with an incredibly expired registration (we definitely should have been towed in the middle of nowhere in upstate New York with a car full of snowboards and skis). They bonded over their love of hot yoga and delicious food, and recently have been going on ski trips whenever possible!

Whitney.jpeg

Whitney Pisenti, Bridesmaid

Whitney and Arielle met when they were paired up to be attached at the hip for a day (twice!) as pledges in Sigma Delta Tau at The George Washington University. Shared classes soon became an excuse for a girl date with salads and vanilla lattes. They spent some of their best summer college nights running around Washington DC, exploring the beautiful city, and even attended a presidential inauguration together.
